Creative Freedom & Experimentation

While we introduce a variety of techniques, our camps encourage kids to express themselves freely, mix materials, and experiment with artistic styles.

Please note: In previous years, our camps were primarily focused on clay and ceramic projects. This year, we are expanding the creative experience by offering a wider range of mixed-media projects, allowing for even more artistic exploration. While clay will still be a part of the program, it will not be as central as in past years, giving campers the opportunity to experiment with a greater variety of artistic techniques.

SNACKS AND LUNCH BREAKS
Campers take a snack/lunch break halfway through camp.

  • Please provide your child with lunch, a snack, and a beverage for each day of camp

  • Our Summer Camp is a peanut / nut-free. Please do not provide any food items that contain peanuts, nuts, peanut butter, nut butters, or peanut products. This includes almonds, filberts, Brazil nuts, cashews, hazelnuts, macadamia nuts, pecans, pine nuts, pistachios, and walnuts

  • Campers must NEVER trade food with other campers

  • Water bottles are allowed and encouraged

You will be asked to specify your camper’s dietary restrictions in the emergency contact form after registering. We will provide supervision during snack and lunch breaks.

The Food Allergy and Research & Education (FARE) recommends that parents educate their camper on how to self-manage their food allergy.

WHAT TO WEAR AND BRING TO CAMP

Kids can get messy, so it’s important that your child wears appropriate clothing – something you won’t mind getting dirty. While most clay and glaze materials wash out easily, some materials, like acrylic paint, can be very difficult to remove from fabric. We do our best to ensure that children stay clean, and we provide aprons and, if requested, even gloves. However, we cannot guarantee that their clothes will remain spotless. For this reason, we recommend dressing your child in clothing that is comfortable but not too precious in case of accidental stains. Sneakers or other closed-toe shoes are the best choice for safety.

Parents and caregivers should drop off and pick up their children on-time

Please reach us out if the camper:

COMPLETED PROJECTS

At Capybara Studio, we celebrate creativity as a journey, not just a final product. Our Summer Camp projects are designed to be taken home either the same day or the next day, depending on drying time, materials, and mediums used. In some cases, certain pieces may require a short additional wait before they can be picked up. Additionally, please note that due to the nature of clay, there is always a possibility that some ceramic pieces may break during drying or explode in the kiln, making them impossible to save. We appreciate your understanding and patience in these instances – our goal is always to ensure that every child’s artwork is properly finished and handled with care.

A Note on the Creative Process

While we ensure that every camper will bring home several wonderful projects, we also emphasize that art is about exploration and self-expression. Some children may start a project and later decide it’s not something they want to keep – and that’s okay! Creativity is about trial and discovery, and not every idea needs to be fully realized. We encourage parents to focus on the experience, rather than just the outcome. The most valuable takeaway from camp is not just a piece of art but the joy of creating, experimenting, and growing as an artist. That being said, we promise that every camper will leave with beautiful, meaningful projects they can cherish for a long time.

PHOTOGRAPHY DURING CAMP

We often take photos during camp for promotional and educational use. We do not disclose any personal information such as the name or age of the children. Keep in mind that you are giving photo permission as you registered.
